Deer Valley Day 2

Lots of crashes, David K is out with a broken hand, Cameron Cole broke his wrist, and Mike Haderer collar bone is no good. Besides that it was hot, dry and no wind today, so the course was quite dusty. I got a bit lazy and really didnt get any good photos. Heres one of Amiel:

Tomorrow I will have a better update filled with some quality photos.

Deer Valley 2007!

I am pretty stoked to be out here after a mellow 12 hour dirve, this is stop 1 for a few week road trip, including Deer Valley, Mont Ste Anne, Crankworx of Colorado, and much more. Arrived at Deer Valley Resort around 9am this morning, it was cool but warming up fast with no clouds in site. The course is same as last year, plenty of Crashes.
Most of the track is in the Woods. They took out THIS section last year, but it doesnt seem as knarly this year, Garrick Anderson boosts it with ease. Slalom is Super Short, and will be interesting. Weather is great, but its dry, dusty, and windy, hey its Deer Valley!

-More to come tomorrow afternoon!

The Last Few Weeks

Its been a while, and ive been busy, but mostly lazy. Heres what happened the last few weeks. We headed out for the 16 or so hour drive to Angel Fire, New Mexico. Tuesday morning I headed out for the trip, but first I stopped by Sanjays house to get a hair cut, then up to Brad Oien's house, He was amped as ever and ready to yell, scream, and be as hyper as possible for the next 20 hours. Then it was off to alfs, and Grizs Place, where we loaded our Truck quite a bit. Southern California is quite boring, and even more boring when you go this far south, nothing but desert and NASCAR burgers. About 24 hours later for me, we were finally in Angel Fire, everyone was Stoked to be there.

It rained quite a bit that night, but we woke to sunny skies, Snow, and Mud. Later in the night a few of us played around on a makeshift slalom track.

Thursday brought more rain, and I got stuck in the middle of it. No photos for Thursday

Friday was back to great weather. I only hiked the lower part of the course, mainly where to Road gap was. There are great Views up in these mountains. Later was 4x where Powell won.

Well, I think I got the dates screwed up, but Sunday was more Pro practice and expert racing, where Brad Oien won JrX. Dancin on the box. More great Views from the DH.

Monday race day, yep monday. Qualify was great, half the people pinning it, half waving at everyone. The timing got screwed up so me and some other threw rocks into this Stump.
Griz with a 5th place qualifier, doing it for America.
Rando came through with the fastest time and Boosted the road gap.

After almost a full week at Angel Fire we headed home, 13 miles from Flagstaff, AZ with no warning or light, the Truck ran out of diesel. It sucked be we Managed.

Finally home I emptied my bags and repacked them to go backpacking up in Yosemite, Ca for 3 day. I got up in the morning and did not feel like going at all, but somehow i got some motivation and headed out another 8 hour drive to Nor*Cal. I dont really remember Yosemite before, it had been such a long time. We came out of a tunnel to see this View. We then set out for a 2 day hike to the top of half dome. The final stretch is up these Cables. The Scenery was pretty amazing, it made me wish I would have brought my good camera. Lots of Waterfalls too.

Sea Otter Final Day- Sunday

Sorry for lagging so much on the DH Final photos, I am waiting for the other half of photos that I saved on a friends laptop for a full report. I thought I would give you a final day report.

After a day of pretty much hell with the cold, wind, and rain, the DH finals were on. The dirt dryed up and proved for perfect conditions, no dust, and tacky dirt.

There was a huge crowd at the log drop:

Blue skies, green grass, and great racing:

Sea Otter Saturday

Day 3 at the Sea Otter.

The day started out in fine fashion. A bit overcast but perfect temperature and no wind. While the beginners and sports were out doing their thing on the downhill course, we decided to go check out the Pro/Semi pro dual slalom practice. The slalom track was the same as previous years, no problem there. Many people consider the Sea Otter Classic D.S to be one of the best venues of the year. All was well...that is, until the rain started.

CG rails one of the berms at the top of the track. Cedric is riding some fresh neon green bikes that are impossible to miss.

Needles and Hill rail the same berm as C-dawg.

Peaty is one of the guys who seemed un-phased by the impending hurricane. Just like home-Steve Peat.

Paramedic/Semi-pro gravity racer Evilio Suarez rails the DS course next to the SRAMollywood sign. (notice the dust, not for long)

The rain started and we headed for the Media room, the DS was postponed, as were most of the other events planned for that time of the day. Some events such as the Women's pro road race were completely cancelled. BMX was postponed till tomorrow(Sunday).

The media room was hooked up for this, a rainy Saturday at the Sea Otter Classic.

Sea Otter Day 2" Friday

Sunny skies, green grass and lots more downhill practice. Course is still in great condition, although it was a bit dusty today.

Dual slalom course looks about the same as last year but I havent gotten up close to it yet.
The dirt jumps are huge and will make for some great photos when I get a chance to go down there.

Now for the photos
